Adjustable grating supports

An adjustable grating support plays a key role in ensuring that your GRP grating floor is stable, drains properly, and sits at exactly the right height. In this article, you will learn what grating supports are, which types FlexxCon supplies, and how to choose the right option for your specific application.

What are adjustable grating supports?

A grating support provides a stable foundation, the required build-up height, and sufficient clearance beneath the grating. This is essential for proper drainage and for routing pipes or cables. The supports are adjustable and consist of two pre-assembled components with a threaded adjustment system. This allows you to set the height precisely without the need for tools. They are made of PP compound (polypropylene), a durable and recycled material with the following properties:

  • Suitable for temperatures from -25 to +70 °C
  • Load capacity of 2,400 kg/m²
  • Corrosion resistant and low maintenance
  • Solvent free and chemically resistant

Five adjustment ranges for any build-up height

FlexxCon supplies adjustable grating supports in five height ranges, ensuring that you can always achieve the required build-up height. Do you need more height than the standard range offers? With the optional stackable extensions DT RD0F30 (3 cm) and DT RDF100 (10 cm), you can easily increase the range. This allows you to achieve a clean and precise result, even in projects with non-standard construction heights.

Top plates: the connection between support and grating

A top plate is placed on each adjustable grating support. This plate forms the interface between the support and the GRP grating, ensuring a stable and level surface. The top plate must match the type of grating you are using, so it is important to select the correct combination when ordering.

Recycled rubber for vibration and noise reduction

In environments where vibration or noise plays a role, such as industrial floors or platforms near machinery, FlexxCon also supplies recycled rubber as an intermediate layer. This rubber provides sound insulation, absorbs shocks, and is weather resistant. It can be easily placed underneath the support.

Where are grating supports used?

Plastic grating supports are used in all applications where GRP gratings are installed on an underlying structure or floor, and where clearance beneath the grating is required. Typical applications include:

  • Raised grating floors on roofs or concrete surfaces
  • Landings and platforms where drainage beneath the grating is necessary
  • Technical areas where pipes or cables need to run below the grating
  • Industrial flooring in sectors such as food processing, offshore, and water management

Which grating support is right for your project?

The right choice depends on three key factors: the required build up height, the load applied to the floor, and the type of substructure, whether it is level, sloped, or sensitive to vibration. In the plastic grating supports overview, you will find a complete range of all available types and adjustment ranges.
