For a weir application, Flexxcon supplied a custom-built access platform with tailor-made GRP handrails and grating. The goal of the project was to provide a safe, corrosion-resistant, and low-maintenance solution for an environment continuously exposed to water and harsh weather conditions.

Custom GRP solutions for weir applications
1. The request
For this weir project, there was a need for a safe and durable handrail system. Traditional materials such as steel can present challenges in these environments, including corrosion and intensive maintenance requirements.
The client was therefore looking for a solution that could withstand moisture, temperature fluctuations, and long-term exposure to outdoor conditions. Safety was also a key priority, requiring a strong and reliable handrail system.
2. Our approach
Following the enquiry, we assessed the situation and identified the specific requirements of the location. This included evaluating the application, load requirements, installation process, and expected service life of the structure.
Based on this analysis, we designed a custom GRP solution tailored to the project’s needs.
3. The solution
The result is a strong, safe, and durable GRP solution, perfectly suited for use in weir applications and water management projects.
Thanks to the use of GRP (glass reinforced plastic), the structure is resistant to corrosion and weather conditions, while maintenance is kept to a minimum. This makes it a future-proof and cost-efficient solution for long-term outdoor use.
